NICO ROSBERG UNIMPRESSED BY LANDO NORRIS AS BRIT'S ATTITUDE QUESTIONED AFTER CHINESE GP

questioned ' attitude after it emerged that the star had bet with his race engineer about being beaten by at the .

In the end, the McLaren star produced a stellar performance, beating Red Bull's Sergio Perez to P2 and finishing comfortably ahead of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in P4 and P5 respectively.

However, after the race Norris revealed: "I made a bet about how far behind the Ferraris we would finish today. I thought 35 seconds. I was very wrong by that. So yeah, I'm happy to be wrong with myself and my own bets."

This pessimism didn't go down well with Rosberg, who called the McLaren driver out during his post-race analysis for Sky Sports F1. "You were discussing Lando's approach there," he started.

"He's a little bit of a 'glass half empty' guy, you know? Pre-race betting that Ferrari are going to beat them... well I don't know. I don't think that's the best approach in general. I think more positivity would be helpful."

This opinion was balanced out by fellow pundit and world champion Damon Hill, who added: "Nico I know you're familiar with it, but I think that's Lando's dry British sense of humour, but you're aware of that."

After the race, Norris made it clear that he was taken totally off-guard by the result, but he also emphasised how strong the machinery underneath him felt.

However, in a later conversation with the 2016 world champion, Norris admitted that he can be guilty of being too 'negative' when assessing his own performances.

He noted: "It could be good [in Miami next time when upgrades arrive]. I like... you're very positive. I'm the opposite, I'm always very negative. We'll see.

"I look forward to Miami. Yeah, it's not been my best track in the past. It's not been our best track, but yes, we've got to celebrate quickly and then I'll see you in Miami."
