F1 POWER RANKINGS| NORRIS HUNTS DOWN VERSTAPPEN IN THE POWER RANKINGS
Max Verstappen, despite finishing second in the Miami Grand Prix, has maintained his first spot in the F1 Power Rankings. But Lando Norris is creeping closer.
A McLaren victory
After the Miami Grand Prix, both McLaren drivers scored highly in the F1 Power Rankings. Lando Norris came first in both the race and the rankings with a score of 9.4. "Lando Norris got the victory he had been craving at the 110th time of asking in the Miami Grand Prix. While there was some fortune with the mid-race Safety Car, the manner in which he defended against Max Verstappen at the restart and then pulled away earned plenty of plaudits, including a high score from our judging panel." His teammate Oscar Piastri is not far behind, the Australian sharing the second spot in the ranking with Yuki Tsunoda with a score of 8.4.
Right after the shared second place, Max Verstappen follows in fourth place with a score of 8.0. It was a remarkable race for Verstappen. "But there was an uncharacteristic mistake from the Dutchman at the Turn 14/15 chicane, which left him with car damage, while he had no answer to the lead McLaren’s pace after the restart."
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who finished third in the race, shares the fifth spot with Lewis Hamilton with a score of 7.8. Esteban Ocon follows with 7.6, followed by Carlos Sainz with 7.0. Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso close the ranking, both with a score of 6.8.
Although Verstappen did not cross the line first in Miami on Sunday, he continues to lead the ranking unchallenged from first place. The McLarens have made progress: Norris is now second in the rankings and Piastri occupies the fifth position. Tsunoda is also cautiously making his way up.
