ADRIAN NEWEY CLAIM DEBUNKED AS EDDIE JORDAN DROPS LATEST UPDATE ON F1 LEGEND'S FUTURE

Adrian Newey is yet to decide what he will do when he leaves Red Bull and has not agreed to join Ferrari, according to his manager Eddie Jordan.

Red Bull announced in April that legendary car designer Newey would leave the team when his contract expires in 2025. The news came as a blow to Red Bull in the wake of the saga surrounding team principal Christian Horner and speculation over Newey’s next move has been rife ever since.

He has been strongly linked with a move to Ferrari, but speaking on the Formula for Success podcast, Jordan dismissed the rumours, saying: “It’s really very wrong to be so blatant about [Newey] joining a certain team.

“I’m speaking as someone who should know, and I’m not giving any information away, at no stage is any of this kind of discussion happening. There will be talks, and there is going to be ongoing talks, because we have yet to decide what Adrian himself wants to do.”

He added: “Let us be very clear, it will always be Adrian’s decision – and so it should be – but there is no clear call. I can give my absolute life on that. There is no inclination to go in any particular way at the moment. We are looking at the opportunities and we are letting people come to talk to us."

Newey won’t be short of options, with Ferrari far from the only interested team. Aston Martin are known to have extended an offer to designer, while his former teams McLaren and Williams could also make a play for his services.

The 65-year-old is yet to speak about the possibilities when he leaves Red Bull, but he did hint at continuing his career in a recent promotion for a yacht company, in which he speaks to Jordan.

"If you asked me 15 years ago if, at the age of 65, if I'd seriously consider changing teams and going somewhere else, and doing another four or five years, I'd have said you are mad! I have wanted to work in motor racing as a designer since the age of eight or 10,” he said.

"I have been lucky to fulfil that ambition. I love what I do. I'll have a bit of a holiday. As Forrest Gump said, 'I feel a bit tired at the moment'. At some point, I'll probably go again..."

A retirement from F1 doesn’t appear to be imminent. Newey previously said: "I've hugely enjoyed it, and I continue to enjoy it. So I think as long as I continue to enjoy it and the team wants me then I'll continue to do it for the moment and then we'll have to see in the future. I don't tend to plan too far forward."
