'WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE WAITING FOR?' - FANS CHALLENGE WREXHAM OWNERS ROB MCELHENNEY AND RYAN REYNOLDS ON FA CUP CHANGES

  • Wrexham yet to condemn changes
  • EFL clubs united in disdain
  • Reynolds and McElhenney urged to put names to protest

WHAT HAPPENED?

The FA have introduced plans to abolish FA Cup replays altogether, leading to a wave of revulsion amongst lower-league clubs. Seventeen League Two clubs have publicly condemned the changes but Wrexham have yet to do so, with the potential of money-spinning replays at Premier League stadia seemingly off the table.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fans have called on Wrexham to make their displeasure clear. @RobRyanRed insisted that Wrexham "need solidarity on this", while @DanWrexham said: "Still no statement condemning the changes. What exactly are we waiting for?"

The latter tweet also mentioned Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, and Humphrey Ker, along with Wrexham's official account.

DID YOU KNOW?

Wrexham have had storied FA Cup runs in recent seasons. This season, they reached the fourth round but were beaten 4-1 by Blackburn Rovers and last season, they reached the same point, where they lost 3-1 to Sheffield United.

WHAT NEXT?

It remains to be seen if Wrexham will show their solidarity to their fellow EFL clubs. In the meantime, they play Crewe Alexandra this weekend.
