TOTTENHAM IN POLE POSITION TO SIGN €40M-RATED DEFENDER THIS SUMMER

Tottenham Hotspur are well-placed to acquire the services of Alessandro Buongiorno.

Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno has become the talk of the town on the back of his impressive performances in the heart of the defence. His work hasn’t gone unnoticed and according to a report from Calciomercato, Tottenham are keen on signing the Italian international as they look to reinforce their defence in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s team have suffered in recent weeks and following their poor run, the Australian boss has already made it clear that the North London club will make major changes to their squad in the summer. While they will look to reinforce almost every position on the pitch, adding another centre-back to the mix will be a priority for them.

Postecoglou has already added Micky van de Ven and Radu Drăgușin to his squad over the past two transfer windows. Despite that, he feels the need for more depth and quality to compete with the best clubs in the country. As a result, Spurs are pushing for the signature of Buongiorno.

The 24-year-old Italian centre-back has been a standout performer for Torino and it has resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. The Italian outfit might have managed to keep hold of their star in the winter transfer window but they might not be able to stand in his way in the summer given the amount of interest.

According to the report, Torino are looking for €40 million to sanction his departure and they have no intentions to negotiate a discount. While Italian giants are keen on his signature, Spurs are ahead of the competition and they can surely afford to meet the demands of the Turin-based club.
