THIS WEEK’S GAA FIXTURES AS THE ULSTER SFC SEMI-FINALS TAKE CENTRE STAGE

The Championship season burst into life with a series of thrilling games last weekend and the make up of the football finals in Ulster and Leinster will be known after this weekend.

While Dublin are expected to account for Offaly, the other three semi-finals are sure to be much closer. Louth will confirm their place in the All-Ireland series with a win over Kildare while Down must defeat Armagh to avoid the Tailteann Cup.

Donegal and Tyrone are both assured of their place in the group stages of the All-Ireland SFC, but both will have designs on reclaiming the Anglo Celt Cup after Derry’s demise last weekend.

Jim McGuinness was at Kingspan Breffni to watch Tyrone edge out Cavan after extra-time and he’ll be hoping Shaun Patton is fit to start after coming off with a leg injury late in Saturday’s win over Derry.

Antrim hurlers, meanwhile, bid to recover from their shellacking at the hands of Kilkenny when they host Wexford at Corrigan Park in round two of the Leinster Hurling Championship while Down travel to Tralee to take on Kerry in the second round of the Joe McDonagh Cup.

Tonight sees Donegal and Derry clash at U20 level in the Ulster Football Championship semi-final at Ballybofey while Tyrone host Monaghan in Omagh in the other semi-final.
