Coventry City’s main focus this week is preparing to do themselves justice against Manchester United in the semi-final of the FA Cup. The Sky Blues ’ big day out at Wembley comes as a welcome distraction from the disappointment of falling short in the race for the Championship play-offs.

But aside from this season’s exploits, fans have already been turning their attention to a potentially exciting summer transfer window and their hopes and expectations for the 2024/25 campaign. Callum O’Hare’s contract situation continues to be a talking point with some wondering whether there’s still a chance of the attacking midfielder staying on at the CBS Arena rather than leaving on a free transfer in July when his current deal expires.

Here, Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner answers some of your big questions of the week in our regular Q&A.

Is there any idea on players we have been looking at? Heard the old ‘friend of a friend’ rumour that we should be excited about the clubs summer business. Even certain positions we might be looking at? Depth has of course been a bit of an issue this season through injuries so would be interesting to hear where we may be looking to strengthen.

AT: I don’t have any names other than 25-year-old midfielder Andrian Kraev from Bulgarian club Levski, who was linked a couple of months ago along with M’Boro and Hull. He’s out of contract in the summer, so would be available for free.

As for positions, Adi Viveash has already revealed that the club will be actively looking to draft in a right winger to compete with Tatsuhiro Sakamoto next season. Depending on what happens with Luis Binks, City will also require another left-sided centre-half and an alternative number ten/playmaker to compete with Kasey Palmer when Callum O’Hare moves on this summer. At least one more central midfielder will be required with Liam Kelly set to leave, and possibly more if City receive an offer they can’t turn down for Ben Sheaf. Another goal scorer might also be on the cards along with maybe a goalkeeper, particularly if Ben Wilson decides he wants more guaranteed game time at his stage of his career.

AT: Haha, I like your style. My answer is one.

Is there still an outside chance that O’Hare will sign a new contract and stay?

AT: I guess there’s always a chance but I would say that I think it’s unlikely, particularly now that there’s no chance of promotion, which was probably the one last hope of securing him on a new deal. You never know, if he doesn’t get the right offers from elsewhere in the summer he could always change his mind, but it does feel like the writing is on the wall on this one.

I believe that this season has been fantastic considering the new players coming in and losing our best two players. I honestly think if we got at United on Sunday, they do look vulnerable at the back, what do you think? Also I think already a lot to look forward to next season, and hope we don’t have a slow start, do you think we could challenge for automatic promotion?

AT: I think that Mark Robins and Adi Viveash will come up with a game plan for Sunday and if the players stick to the tactical detail, I believe they can and will cause problems for United. And yes, I agree, there is a lot to look forward to next season, not least the fact that the current new crop of players will, I believe, be even better for their first year at this level. I also think the club will strengthen with real quality, and don’t forget we have already secured Ephron Mason-Clark who should prove to be a really exciting attacking option. Robins has already spoken about having a better start next season and if they do that then yes, I think they may well be capable of competing for automatic promotion. That is certainly the aim.
