RUTHERGLEN GLENCAIRN 'MUST WIN ALL SIX GAMES' TO BE IN WITH TITLE CHANCE, ADMITS BOSS

Rutherglen Glencairn boss Joe Pryce admits his side might need to win all six of their remaining games just to be in with a chance of promotion from the West of Scotland First Division.

Pryce says one slip-up could be fatal as eight clubs vie for the three step-up places, with only 11 points separating leaders Petershill from St Roch’s.

That puts Drumchapel United, Kilwinning Rangers, Blantyre Vics, Shotts, Glencairn and Ashfield in the mix, with varying numbers of games in hand.

As it stands, Glencairn have two games in hand over Petershill, and victory in both would put them a point behind the leaders, as they head to third-placed Kilwinning on Saturday.

Pryce said: “We’ve got six games left and realistically we’ll probably have to win every single one of them to have any chance of sneaking into the promotion race.

“Shotts are doing fantastically well, but they’ve got a real load of games to play. Ashfield are in there as well, Drumchapel United, Petershill, Blantyre Vics and Kilwinning Rangers.

“Even at this late stage of the season, with five or six games to go for some teams, there are still seven or eight teams that are in with a realistic shot of promotion.

“It shows how tight the league is, from top to bottom, any team can beat any team.

“Shotts have only lost three games in this league, which is incredible, because every team is losing six and seven games here and there, sometimes even eight, so them only losing three means they’ve been really consistent.

“We know they’re going to come with a late surge. Everybody’s waiting on Johnstone Burgh coming in with a late surge as well.

“Kilwinning will be a big challenge, they have some really dangerous, quality players in their team.

“They’re the same as us, now, they know that one slip can be fatal, so both teams will have to go for it and it’s going to be a good game, between two sides that can get the ball down and play.

“But there are still seven or eight teams who are in with a realistic shout at it, and it’s incredible. It’s going to go right down to the very last game before anything is decided.”
