MARCUS RASHFORD SLAMS SOCIAL MEDIA COMMENTS ON MAN UTD PERFORMANCES: 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH'

Marcus Rashford says criticism of his performances for Manchester United has bled into 'abuse', stating: "Enough is enough."

The United forward has only scored eight goals this season, as Erik ten Hag's side languish in sixth place with just five Premier League games remaining. Rashford, 26, has been one of the Red Devils' most panned players during what's been a dismal campaign, with his commitment called into question on the back of signing a lucrative five-year contract following a career-best 30 goals last term.

There've also been multiple disciplinary issues which Rashford has been at the centre of over the past 18 months, such as when the England international went on an unsanctioned night out in Belfast which led to him missing training the next day. Ten Hag consequently dropped him from the squad for one match and Rashford was reportedly fined £650,000.

Having previously fired back at his critics in February, the 26-year-old has now taken to social media to issue a fresh rebuke. It came after a United fan posted on X/Twitter : "The way Marcus Rashford is being treated is absolutely disgusting. It's cruel. It's abuse."

In response, Rashford replied at 12:36am on Friday: "I appreciate your support! It is abuse and has been for months. Enough is enough."

The Red Devils academy graduate has received more than 30,000 likes on his post and messages of support have flooded in from supporters. Not everyone was particularly sympathetic, though, as one of the top replies read: "You're supposed to be one of the "senior" players at Manchester United, yet your effort and body language on the pitch has not been acceptable. Abuse is not okay, but criticism is."

Having limped off during last Sunday's narrow FA Cup semi-final victory over Coventry, Rashford missed United's 4-2 win at home to Sheffield United back in the Premier League on Wednesday. Ten Hag's side host relegation-battling Burnley this Saturday, looking to make it back-to-back wins and take another step towards qualifying for Europe next season.

Rashford's manager has already backed him to turn his woeful form around, with Ten Hag saying earlier this month: "I think he has a big motivation because he wants to be successful with us. He wants to score goals but he wants to win trophies and we still have a chance in the FA Cup.

"He wants to fight for a Champions League spot and the Euros are coming so I will say his motivation should be high. He can change the momentum. Before [the 30 March game at] Brentford he scored three goals in three games."
