JAMIE CARRAGHER AND THIERRY HENRY AGREE ON WHY "BRILLIANT" JADON SANCHO HAS FAILED AT MAN UTD

Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry believe Jadon Sancho's struggles at Manchester United have been down to the environment as he shows his quality, once again, at Borussia Dortmund.

The winger helped the German side stun PSG to make the final of the Champions League on Tuesday night. He moved back to the Bundesliga outfit on loan in January having been frozen out in Manchester after clashing with manager Erik ten Hag.

Prior to that though Sancho had struggled to replicate the form he showed so regularly during his first spell at Dortmund. His exploits had a host of Europe's top clubs chasing him before those at Old Trafford eventually spent more than £70million to land his signature.

Sancho has struggled to justify that fee, as have a host of expensive purchases in Manchester over the past decade. Now, back at Dortmund, the England international looks like the player of old and several pundits believe the situation at his parent club doesn't appear to suit him.

Carragher said on CBS: "He was brilliant wasn’t he? Fantastic. He’s not Dortmund’s player, he’s Manchester United’s player, so United fans will be watching this game thinking, 'We want that player, where’s that player? We haven’t seen that player for two years'.

"But that is the player that they bought. Moving clubs, sometimes it’s just the kit, the feeling, the stadium, the confidence that you’ve got… it doesn’t feel the right fit at Manchester United. And that’s not just for him, that’s for a lot of players. At certain clubs, you just feel more yourself."

Henry was on the same page as he added: "It’s not easy sometimes. The shirt can be heavy, the expectation, the price tag, languages… Getting used to the town, getting used to something different. You know people at times underestimate all those points."

Ten Hag had commented that, even before his arrival there were issues with Sancho in Manchester. The Dutchman claimed: "We have had issues all the way through, and so you can make out his stay at Manchester United so far is not a success".

Sancho though equalled 16-year-old Champions League records set by Lionel Messi during the semi-final with the German club keen to keep him if they can. A club chief said: " I know that the players feel pretty welcome in Dortmund, they feel at home, especially Jadon."
