IPSWICH TOWN CHASING LOAN PRODIGY

Ipswich Town are working on a deal to keep Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson at Portman Road, as reported by TEAMtalk.

The club were hosting their end-of-season awards as the Tractor Boys chairman asked manager Kieran McKenna about presents for his 38th birthday next week. Fans were jubilant as McKenna’s answer was Omari, a player who has been ever present for the newly promoted side this campaign.

Hutchinson was only on loan from the Premier League club for the season and has returned to his parent club. However, Ipswich Town are keen on the player staying for another season, if not permanently, and they look to take advantage of an uncertain situation at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s squad has to be cut down.

Pochettino’s side need to trim the squad down this summer, with players such as Conor Gallagher said to have been transfer-listed by the Blues in their efforts. They are reluctant to see Hutchinson leave permanently this summer but could be forced out of having a choice in the matter this summer.

Not only are they in need of trimming the squad down, but they are also looking to strengthen the team. This situation has seen them discuss player swaps to get their targets in the summer transfer window. Raheem Sterling for Michael Olise of Crystal Palace is one such suggested deal.

While they are reluctant to see the youngster leave, they are open to another loan spell, but Ipswich’s success could be a factor that holds them back.

Promotion could see Ipswich miss out.

Ipswich Town could miss out on a deal for Hutchinson due to their promotion campaign. They finished second in the Championship, six points clear of third-placed Leeds United and achieved back-to-back promotions.

It was a wild dream for fans this time last year when McKenna joked about reaching the Premier League following their promotion from League One last season. The Tractor Boys boss joked about reaching the top flight and getting revenge on Manchester United, where he was assistant to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Blues will discuss Omari Hutchinson’s future at Stamford Bridge, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. A loan deal is a strong possibility for the 20-year-old, with Premier League clubs among those interested, joining Eredivisie and Bundesliga clubs. Chelsea are said to be reluctant on a loan spell to Premier League rivals.

A standout performer for Ipswich Town.

The 20-year-old finished the season with ten goals and five assists in 44 games for the club and picked up the Young Player of the Year award. A permanent deal for the winger would mark just how ambitious the club are as they continue their journey through the football pyramid, reaching the pinnacle and looking to expand on their successes under McKenna.

Hutchinson is not the only ambitious deal they are looking to get over the line in this summer transfer window, as they have also reportedly made an ambitious move to sign Eddie Nketiah of Arsenal, Hutchinson’s former club.

The 24-year-old striker has been told he is free to find a new club should they pay the right price. The Englishman has shown his quality in his time at the Emirates but has been deemed not good enough for the number nine jersey as Arteta continues his hunt for a top striker.

The Premier League new boys face competition from Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace, who could be looking at some money to spend this summer if they were to get the desired price for Michael Olise.
