WHAT HAPPENED?

Tuchel claimed the England international has 'exceeded all expectations' since signing for the Bavarian club in January.

Dier has started ten of his 12 appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayern, where he has impressed - despite tough competition from Matthijs de Ligt, Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano.

Tuchel highlighted how 'vocal' the former Spurs defender is as one of his strengths, amongst several other traits.

WHAT TUCHEL SAID

Speaking in a press conference on Friday, Tuchel praised the impact Dier has had at the club since his arrival. “I am very happy with him. He's exceeded all expectations," he said via Bulinews.com.

"He's an extremely important piece of the puzzle. He's organized, he's vocal, we didn't have that much.

“He helps the guy next to him, he's a top character and a very good player. He's being rewarded for his work at the moment.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Dier joined Bayern on an initial loan move from Spurs in the winter transfer window - but will join the club on a permanent basis in the summer on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old met several obligations in his contract which triggered the permanent deal, which will come into effect once his contract in north London expires this summer.

WHAT NEXT FOR DIER?

Despite missing out on the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern still have a lot to play for in the top flight of German football with a spot in the top four not guaranteed at this moment In time.

As well as this, the German club must also prepare for a tough Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid after progressing past Arsenal. The first leg will be played at the Allianz Arena on April 30.
