FORMER WREXHAM FORWARD LEAVES NATIONAL LEAGUE SIDE

Former Wrexham striker Dior Angus has been released by National League side Altrincham following the expiry of his contract, as confirmed via a statement on the clubs website.

The 30-year-old played a key role for Phil Parkinson’s side as they reached the National League play-offs, before losing to eventual winners Bromley in the semi-final and now Angus will seek a fresh start elsewhere ahead of the new season.

How did Angus fair at Altrincham?

After arriving at the club last summer following his departure from League Two side Harrogate Town, Angus made 35 league appearances for Altrincham but didn’t feature in their semi-final.

During that time, the 30-year-old scored four goals and provided five additional assists whilst competing for minutes against the likes of Alex Newby, Chris Conn-Clarke and Regan Linney.

Angus also managed 1.1 successful dribbles per 90 minutes, as well as a 78% pass completion rate and drew 1.2 fouls, proving to be a handful when appearing for the club whether it was from the start or off the bench.

New season, new club

Following his departure from the club, Angus will be on the look out for his fourth side in three years, after appearing for Wrexham, Harrogate and Altrincham.

Angus has made over 125 appearances in the National League throughout his career so far and despite averaging one roughly a goal every five matches, his experience and versatility could create a bidding war for his signature in the coming weeks.

Who else has been released?

Angus is one of nine players to be released by Altrincham following their failure to secure promotion into the EFL during the 2023/24 campaign.

Experienced EFL midfielder Joey Jones, former Bolton defender Liam Brockbank and former Coventry City U21s captain George Burroughs are amongst the other players that have been let go by Phil Parkinson’s side.
