CHELSEA REACH AGREEMENT FOR BRAZILIAN WONDERKID

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Brazilian playmaker William Estevao ahead of the summer transfer window, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on X.

The teenager has been tipped by many to be the next talented youngster to come out of Brazil, after the emergence of Endrick, who will move to Real Madrid this summer in a big money deal.

Chelsea Eye Summer Transfers After Underwhelming Campaign

There were higher expectations after a llarge outlay on transfers over the past few transfer windows, but the signings have had varying degrees of success and it does look as if the club are going to have to dip in the transfer window yet again to strengthen the squad if they are to compete at the top end of the Premier League next season.

Recent home victories over Tottenham and West Ham United have displayed the potential of this Chelsea side but it has been an inconsistent season at best with defeat in the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool proving a missed opportunity to pick up silverware.

A recent 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals ensured it would be a trophyless campaign for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. They could also be set to miss out on European football again next season having failed to qualify this season for the first time since 2017.

Willian Estevão – The Next Big Talent out of Brazil?

Willian Estevão is only 17 years old but has been attracting interest from a host of top clubs having impressed since breaking into the Palmerias side this season.

There were reports of Barcelona and Chelsea considering a deal for the youngster as far back as the winter transfer window when it was revealed that a €60 million release clause was available to be triggered in his contract.

It may come as a surprise to football fans who might be hearing of the winger for the first time that there is such interest in a player with little experience but the success of Brazilian wingers in modern times, such as Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid, Endrick as mentioned and Neymar before his move to Saudi Arabia has seen clubs scrambling to find the next big superstar.

If Estevão moves to Stamford Bridge and becomes a part of the first team it may free up Cole Palmer to play in a more central role having shifted between the right wing and a number ten role this season.
