CELTIC AND RANGERS AGREE ON AWAY FANS TO RETURN NEXT SEASON AS NEW ALLOCATIONS SET

Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Rangers have reached a truce that will see away fans return to games between the rivals from next season.

Both clubs have been at loggerheads in recent years over allocations with multiple fixtures taking place with only home punters in attendance. But, from the 24/25 season, both will hand 5 per cent of briefs to travelling fans – which works out around 2,500 visiting supporters at Ibrox and 3,000 taking in the occasion at Parkhead once more. But it won't happen straight away with the final two Premiership fixtures between the fierce foes this season will house only home fans.

A statement from the SPFL said: "Following engagement with both clubs, the SPFL is pleased to confirm that Rangers FC and Celtic FC will provide ticket allocations of around 5 per cent for away supporters, for SPFL matches between the two clubs. This will be effective from Scottish Premiership season 2024/25, subject to all necessary requirements being satisfied at both Ibrox and Celtic Park. It does not affect the remaining two league matches between the clubs in season 2023/24, which will remain at a zero allocation for away supporters.

Both clubs formerly handed around 7,500 briefs to their rivals until Rangers announced in May 2018 that they were slashing that allocation to about 10 per cent of that figure. Celtic then followed suit before taking things a step further in May 2023 and cutting the tickets for away fans completely, with the Light Blues then returning the favour.
