ASTON VILLA STARTING XI VS WOLVES PREDICTED AS UNAI EMERY FACES TWO DECISIONS AFTER INJURY BLOW

Premier League football returns this weekend after the March international break and Aston Villa will host Wolves in a bid to boost their hopes of qualifying for Champions League football.

Unai Emery was handed an injury blow during the break as Matty Cash was forced off injured in Poland's EURO 2024 play-off semi-final against Estonia. The right-back appeared to sustain a muscle problem and Emery will give an update on his condition this Friday during his press conference.

Villa head into the clash with Wolves three points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham, who, like Manchester United, have a game in hand to play in the final weeks of the season. John McGinn remains suspended and will return the following weekend against Brentford as he sits out the trip to Manchester City on Wednesday too, but Jacob Ramsey could return to the squad after training this week.

Emi Martinez is set to make his 151st appearance for Villa in all competitions. Ezri Konsa is set to play at right-back after Cash's injury, leaving Emery with two options at centre-back. He could play Diego Carlos ahead of Clement Lenglet alongside Pau Torres after the Brazilian returned to fitness earlier this month following a hamstring issue.

Lucas Digne could come back into the starting XI given his strong form in recent weeks, while Douglas Luiz will likely partner Youri Tielemans in midfield. Morgan Rogers could make successive Premier League starts on the left opposite Leon Bailey on the right.

Jhon Duran started alongside Ollie Watkins against West Ham, but struggled to make an impact in the first half before being hooked for Moussa Diaby. Emery may prefer to to start Diaby against Wolves after recording two crucial assists in his last three games.

Villa predicted XI vs Wolves: Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Pau, Digne; Bailey, Luiz, Tielemans, Rogers; Diaby, Watkins.
