ASTON VILLA CONSIDERING MOVE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE SEASON

Aston Villa have identified Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville as a potential summer transfer target, with reports linking several Premier League clubs with the winger if Leeds fall short in their bid to secure promotion, according to Football Insider.

Summerville has been in hot form this season, contributing to 28 goals and winning the EFL Championship Player of the Season. However, if Leeds do not get promoted, the 22-year-old could leave, with Aston Villa reportedly keeping tabs.

Key Player in Leeds United Attacking Trident

Summerville has been the star man for Daniel Farke’s side this season, scoring nineteen and assisting nine in the Championship campaign. His output has helped his side to second in the table, but Ipswich are not far behind them, with a game in hand. His recent performance against Middlesbrough is an excellent example of how much of an impact he has made for the Yorkshire club. His two goals and one assist helped them get over the line against Middlesbrough, winning 4-3 in an entertaining battle at the Riverside Stadium, and this may prove to be a crucial three points.

Summerville has usually played on the left, forming a solid partnership with other attackers such as Georgino Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto, where they have contributed towards scoring the fourth-highest amount of goals among Championship sides in the league.

Summerville a Good Fit for Major Premier League Sides

If Leeds were to stay down, it may be no surprise if several big teams, both in the Premier League and in Europe may see the Dutchman as a massive coup for his age and talents. Aston Villa seem to be keen on bringing in the attacker, and if Villa gets into the Champions League, they will want to continue improving their squad; a player like Summerville may be what they need. The Netherlands under-21 international is a player for the long term who is yet to reach his full potential. He has top-flight experience having scored four times in the 2022/23 campaign, where Leeds were relegated from the Premier League, in just 12 starts.

We could also see a team like Tottenham Hotspur move in for the winger. Despite an impressive start to the season, they have struggled with injuries and next season, they will need to bolster their squad, especially on the left with Timo Werner not making a major impact in that role since joining on loan. Manor Solomon has missed nearly the entire season through injury, and bringing in a young left-winger who is excellent at carrying the ball would help improve Spurs attack and also fit the style Ange Postecoglu wants. Leeds will also do everything they can to keep one of their star players, but it seems only promotion can do that.

Summerville Destined for Premier League Football?

I think we will see Summerville in the top flight next season no matter what; he is too good for another season of Championship football. If he were to depart Leeds, he should only sign for a club who are prepared to give him first-team football for his development instead of being seen as a rotational player. A club like Aston Villa may be too big to turn down, with potential Champions League football being an attractive offer, and if the club fail to get promoted, they could bring in a huge profit for Summerville who signed for a reported £1.5 million from Feyenoord.
