TYSON FURY REACHES KEY MILESTONE AHEAD OF OLEKSANDR USYK UNDISPUTED FIGHT

Tyson Fury is just 15 days away from his fight against Oleksandr Usyk, the same point he was at before pulling out of their original meeting.

Bitter rivals Fury and Usyk fight for the undisputed heavyweight world titles on May 18 in Saudi Arabia. They were supposed to fight in February but the mega-fight was pushed back by three months after Fury was forced out when he suffered a cut above his eye in one of his final sparring sessions.

The Brit has now reached a key milestone for the rescheduled fight as he completed his final sparring session, according to Ty Mitchell. It rules out any chance of history repeating itself by Fury being cut, but if he or Usyk are forced out for any other reason they will have to pay a £10million fine.

“It was our request when we were negotiating,” Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas said. “We said to the Saudis, if you are going to move the fight, make sure you include the penalty.” Mandatory world title challenger Filip Hrgovic has been drafted in as a replacement by Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk if Fury is unable to make the fight again.

"[Hrgovic] is getting ready for Daniel Dubois on June 1, but instead he will have to be ready on May 18 to replace Tyson for any reason. Otherwise we will lose the [IBF] world title. It was one of our conditions. Usyk has actually had a triple camp for this fight. He started in September for the fight to take place last December," he told Boxing Scene.

"We were then meant to fight on Feb 17, then we were rescheduled for May. Tyson Fury has withdrawn four times already from this fight. Remember that we were looking to fight last April; he pulled out of it then, too. That’s why we fought Daniel Dubois. This will be the fourth camp we have had for Tyson Fury."

Fury hasn't fought since picking himself up off the canvas to controversially beat former UFC champion Francis Ngannou on points last October. The Brit will enjoy a considerable size advantage in the ring over Usyk, who looks to become a two-weight undisputed champion having previously held all four belts at cruiserweight.
